Les Roches students Alessandro Tenconi, Akanshu Jain and Kenzo Modugno from the bachelor degree in International Hotel Management win 2nd prize in Accor’s Take Off contest, an international competition on digital innovation in the hospitality world.
The contest involved two rounds. For the first, students were invited to respond to the question:
‘How will mobile transform the hospitality industry and customers’ experience?’
Students had to choose from among these five key elements to Accor’s new 360 degree mobile strategy: dreaming, researching, booking, experiencing, sharing.
They were tasked with creating a photocollage of their concept and adding a short explanatory text.
Les Roches’ entry on ‘Experiencing’, called ACCOR glass, and using Google glass technology was well executed, and saw them through to the next round along with 14 other entries from the 132 competitors from around the world.
In this round, competitors were invited to create a video that expanded their concept. The video – with a few budding actors amongst you – can be viewed here.
Les Roches made it through to the final stage with their entry, and was one of five groups to be invited to go to Paris.
Here, they had to present their concept to a 20-member jury of ACCOR Top Management, Digital and Marketing Group Directors, Trade Press Journalists and some Marketing and Digital Professors from prestigious business schools.
Les Roches finished in second position tied, with a special distinction for ‘Innovation’.
On top of their prize, they received individual certificates to be added to their portfolio and CVs, and 3 latest-generation tablets.
But above all else, they had the great opportunity to network with ACCOR top executive management, such as Mr. Bazin, the new Chairman of Accor.
Mr. Bazin complimented them expressly on their project, as well on “their professional attitude and very elegant appearance.”
They’ve also positioned themselves on ACCOR’s radar (in particular the Group Digital, E-commerce, and Marketing teams) as potential talent to recruit once they graduate from Les Roches.
Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without some sightseeing. So finally, after working very hard, the students had a chance to enjoy Paris and were hosted by ACCOR on a beautiful river cruise down La Seine. Ah, la vie est belle!
