“It is said that life is a journey”

After spending the past four years on and off in beautiful and tranquil Switzerland, the village of Bluche has become my second home. I have met the most diverse and bright individuals who have become more than friends to me; I am proud to call them my Les Roches family. Graduation day at the end of May 2013 was, therefore, a very emotional day in my life since everyone was heading off in different directions to start their careers.

I moved to London, which was – and continues to be – a journey into the reality of life. A life which is completely different from the one I left behind at Les Roches, the world’s premier institute for hospitality learning and development. It has been an exciting journey, from the serenity and calmness of a Swiss village to the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan city of London – one of the most fascinating cities in the world, which attracts all nationalities from the entire globe.

So here I was, with a sense of anxiety after leaving my Les Roches family behind, but also cautiously excited about my new life as a hospitality professional for one of the most iconic brands in the hospitality industry. I feel honored to be part of a Pre-Opening Team at such early stage of my career. This opportunity has provided me with a perfect platform to launch my career and take it to the zenith in the field of hospitality. The experience I have gained here at Rosewood London has, so far, been phenomenal; I could not have asked for a broader experience than this. Surprisingly, the Les Roches spirit surrounds me every day – not only because many colleagues and the President of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts are Les Roches alumni. I can truly say that the education received has prepared me extremely well for the industry, due to the diversity of people I met and worked with on campus, the discipline in class, the focus on looking presentable, the research assignments, training in critical path analysis and projects like Capstone, which I work with on a daily basis.

Guests arrive at Rosewood London through an archway that opens into a grand Edwardian courtyard, in a little oasis of tranquility unique among London luxury hotels. It is the perfect start to a memorable stay in a timeless heritage hotel, set just steps from Covent Garden. (rosewoodhotels.com)

In particular, the launch of Rosewood’s new marketing campaign, as well as having Piers Morgan and Simon de Pury as curators for the property, has helped me to understand the minute details about the core positioning of an ultra-luxury hotel. I feel privileged not only to be associated with the most awaited hotel in central London, but also with the rebranding of the entire company and its first property in the European market.

Inspiration, wonderment, commerce, curiosity or the simple joy of discovering something new in the every day
