Alain Bachman, a Swiss national and alumnus of Les Roches, will be starting his new role as General Manager of the Chedi Andermatt this September in preparation for the grand opening in December 2013. This new property is the first piece of General Hotel Management (GHM) Ltd.’s new Andermatt Swiss Alps project, the largest integrated year-round holiday destination currently being developed in the Canton or Uri, Switzerland.
“It is an honour for me to be a part of this milestone for GHM, as well as the hospitality landscape in Switzerland. The Chedi Andermatt will not only raise the profile of the destination, but also up the ante for the standards for luxury,” said Bachmann.
Before joining this new challenge, Alain Bachman has worked in a number of high profile roles including Deputy General Manager Grand Hotel Park, Gstaad, Director of Food & Beverage The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow, Food Beverage & Operations Manager, Anassa, Leading Hotels of the World, Asst. Director F&B ,Mandarin-Oriental, Washington DC and a number of other positions in the hotel & restaurant industry. After starting his professional life in the 1980s in banking and then marketing, he moved on to hospitality in the mid-’90s after completing studies at both the Cornell Hotel Management School in the United States and Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Switzerland.

The Chedi Andermatt, GHM’s first Alpine resort, is designed by renowned architect Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston International Architects and Planners Ltd.
