Alumni blogger Christina Seow brings us her latest missive from Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel and highlights the art of making people feel special
At Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, not only are we focused on providing excellent service, but also on accentuating hospitality with warm Thai elegance that reflects the beauty of the local culture. This provides us with a variety of options to make any annual celebration a memorable one for guests.
Depending on the occasion, we work together with our talented team of pastry chefs and florists to create a unique presentation for our guests. On one occasion, to warmly welcome an international celebrity guest, we presented him with a watermelon carving with his name and some beautiful Thai snacks.
For one of our local Thai guests’ milestone anniversary, our Executive Assistant Manager cleverly suggested a twist on the classic mango sticky rice dessert. Our chefs carefully deconstructed the dessert and decorated it beautifully with a hand garland or ‘phuang malai’ as the locals know it by, which represents good luck and success.
For another guest, as he was at our hotel for a wellness program, in honour of his birthday, instead of spoiling him with a deliciously sinful chocolate cake, our chef indulged him with a creative fruit cake using a mix of tropical fruits and berries instead.
As many guests choose to celebrate their special occasion at our hotel on a regular basis, it is very rewarding to have the chance to go beyond the standard presentation and think of interesting ideas to wow the guests through introducing a touch of the local culture to have them remember this particular celebration and stay.
It never ceases to amaze me how many talented people we have working in the hospitality industry, who have the amazing ability to make any simple occasion outstanding just through a display of their craft.
