In a bid to raise funds for the charity Colors of China, students and faculty from Les Roches cycle 1253 kilometres (all from the cool comfort of the school lobby).
Students at Les Roches study much more than hospitality management degrees.
Reflection about the world, and helping those who are less fortunate than us, is also key to the school’s philosophy.
Colors of China is a child-sponsorship association that provides more than 5,000 girls with access to education. On Colors of China Tour Day (19th March) staff, faculty and students came together to raise funds.
Participants – some of whom were Global Degree students who will soon be studying in China – cycled 1253 kilometers on spinning bikes in the school lobby and raised CHF 7,581.55.
As Sonia Tatar, CEO of Les Roches International says:
Les Roches is an outreach community that cares for people. This is an association that supports a cause close to the heart of Les Roches: providing young children, particularly girls, access to education.
“Couleurs de Chine was an activity different from any other we have seen in Les Roches before,” says student Sofia Nunez Santos. “For the first time, an event this big was dedicated to charity and I think that is amazing. The environment that was created around those participating was of excitement and I think people were happy to see something like this organized. We need to appreciate more what we have, realize that not everyone has the possibility to be here and that if we have the opportunity to help then we should not hesitate. I would definitely do it again!”
Sonia Tatar adds: ‘It was truly an inspirational and at the same time, a moving event where a whole community was mobilized and touched by the feeling of giving education to children. The day was defined by a committed, motivated Les Roches community in all its spirit and strong will.
So a big thank you to the heart of Les Roches community for its social engagement.
