Hosted by the Alpine Challenge and Funky Fur Team (ACFF)
The Alpine Challenge and Funky Fur (ACFF) event is a day of racing and partying on the sun-kissed slopes of Crans Montana. Students from Les Roches and Glion, dressed in an eclectic range of animal fancy-dress had a lot of fun.
Behind the scenes, though, was an immense amount of preparation and organization that was carried out by the BSC S6 Events and BBA Culinary stream class, Les Roches Sports Department and Cran Montana Ski School.
Julie Lopez writes about the experience:
We would like to tell you about the amazing ACFF event that was held on Sunday 16th March 2014 in Crans Montana, Switzerland on La Nationale Slope, with over 200 participants.
BEFORE THE ACFF EVENT
Since the beginning of the semester, the ACFF Team had been carrying out intensive preparations and organization with different departments to make this winter sports event a success.
The Marketing Team generated awareness of the event to all the staff and students at Les Roches and Glion. This involved systematic promotion using posters, promotional video, social media and emails. Moreover, in order to capture the attention of Glion, the ACFF team went to promote the event at their campus.
In addition to the Purchasing Department, the Logistics Team controlled all the detailed organization and implementation of our complex operation on and off the slope.
The Food & Beverage Team formed fantastic food & drinks options that were affordable for all partaking in the event. The menu created was diverse in terms of savory and sweet dishes as well as the different drinks provided throughout the sports event.
The Sponsorship Team secured support from 15 different sponsors, who offered prizes totaling more than 10’000CHF, which was used for the competitors’ prizes and our lucky draw. The prizes varied from mini iPads to a pair of Scott Crusade skis, a snowboard, several pairs of Timberland shoes, ski equipment, coupons and much more.
In the meantime, the Finance Team coordinated all the costs, inventory & made sure we stayed within our budget.
THE DAY OF THE ACFF EVENT
ACFF day started at 6:30am with a briefing on the different tasks and stages of the day. After this, all the equipment and products were loaded onto a truck to be taken to La Nationale. With half of the team at the venue of the event, the Sponsorship, Entertainment and Marketing Teams commenced the whole setup. The F&B Team who set up the food and drinks section soon followed.
Everyone showed up ready for an amazing day of racing and partying with their friends in the sun. After the party kicked off, spectators and participants from both Les Roches and Glion gathered together to celebrate another glorious day in the Swiss Alps. Many people at the event were dressed up in animal costumes which created added entertainment value. The day started with music and the MCs welcoming people to the event.
After having compared the competitions, the MCs’ prizes were given out to participants. The games and the prizes were varied, for example, the first person to run to the red line on the slope and back won a t-shirt sponsored by Timberland. All participants were given the chance to win prizes from our incredible lucky draw. The top skiers and snowboarders for both male and female categories won a mini iPad sponsored by Leos, Le Pub and UBS. At the end of ACFF event, an after party in Leos Bar was held where participants enjoyed free food.
All in all, the event was extremely successful; everyone, including the ACFF team, enjoyed themselves and people are already looking forward to the next ACFF event.
This day would not have been such a success without the participation from our amazing sponsors. We would like to thank them very much for taking part in this event that created everlasting memories for all our participants.
